Electric sportscar will become a reality
Volvo’s electric performance division Polestar has announced that its concept car, the Precept, will be going into production.
Originally showcased as a model of sustainability, the Precept matches its electric drivetrain to an interior that features environmentally friendly materials, which Volvo will strive to keep in the production model. These include recycled plastic bottles, reclaimed fishing nets and recycled cork vinyl. Some interior and exterior parts for the concept version were made from a flax-based composite.
It’s not just the car that will be planet-friendly: Volvo is building a new manufacturing facility in China which it claims will be completely carbon neutral. This follows the achievement of the company's other factory, also in China, which produces the Polestar 1 model using 100% renewable energy.
There was no confirmation of when Precept would make it into showrooms, but product development is underway.
