Details for the European market unveiled

Audi's origami-infused Q2 compact SUV been updated. It's now a little longer, with revised styling front and rear. Polygons abound in the new look, appearing in the rear bumper diffuser and in the single frame grille, which is now slightly lower. The front and rear treatment also include what Audi calls “implied” air inlets i.e. fake, but they still manage to add a little bit of stylistic aggression to the overall look.

Q2 is now fitted with LED headlights as standard, with matrix LED units as an option. Also available is an LED tail light unit with dynamic turn signal.

On the inside, the changes are fairly minimal, amounting to a new gear shifter and redesigned air vents. An optional lighting package also infuses various bits of interior trim with selectable mood lighting. Audi have moved away from Alcantara for the seat covering, instead opting for Dinamica microfibre.

The engine line-up, as yet unconfirmed for SA, includes a 1.5 TFSI 4-cylinder turbo petrol with 110kW and 250Nm. The engine is fitted with cylinder-on-demand technology, which shuts off two cylinders at lower engine speeds. Gearbox options include a 6-speed manual or 7-speed S tronic dual clutch. Audi will expand the Q2 engine range with TFSI and TDI options in the near future, and include Quattro all-wheel drive with some versions.

Q2’s assistance systems include collision avoidance and lane departure; adaptive cruise control with speed sign recognition is also available.

Q2’s SA arrival date, along with pricing and options, is yet to be confirmed.
