5-cylinder sportster gets cosmetic and interior upgrades

Easily one of the most enjoyable cars in its class, the Audi TTRS has just been updated.

The redrawn front end incorporates a matt black honeycomb grille, and bigger lateral air inlets for better cooling. Side on, the blade element is finished as standard in body colour, but can be ordered in matt aluminium or floss black - as can the mirror housings.

At the rear, there’s a new fixed rear wing design, a new RS-specific diffusor, and the typical large oval exhaust tailpipes. Standard black 20” wheels cover red brake callipers.

The range of new colour options includes a shade called Kyalami Green.

Powering the updated TTRS is the exceptional five-cylinder turbo petrol - a nine-time winner of the International Engine of the Year Award. Output is 294kW / 480Nm, with drive to all four wheels via a 7-speed S tonic gearbox. The Coupé gets from 0 - 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds, thanks in part to its light weight of just 1,410kg, and can optionally have its top speed raised from 250km/h to 280km/h.

Assisting the quattro system in delivering driver engagement is selective torque delivery to either axle, or to specific wheels.

The interior is completely driver-focused. RS sport seats are finished in Nappa leather (with a choice of blue, red or black stitching), and the RS logo is on display throughout the cabin - on the seats, steering wheel, door sill trims, and selector levers. The 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit display features RS-specific displays, including a gear shift display that prompts the driver to upshift at maximum engine
The TTRS Coupé and Roadster are now available in South Africa.
