More power, better efficiency, improved refinement
Land Rover has added new power to its Range Rover Sport lineup.
Available in two flavours, the 3.0 in-line six-cylinder includes just about all the engine bolt-ons to boost power and efficiency. It’s underpinned by mild hybrid technology that harvests energy under braking, which it then redeploys for extra torque. Added to that is a twin-scroll turbo, as well as an electric supercharger which takes just ,5 of a second to spool up to full boost, up to 6 500rpm. While all of it means better performance, it also reduces fuel consumption.
The P360 MHEV is available in S, SE and HSE spec, with output is pegged at 265kW and 495Nm. Land Rover claims a 0-100km/h time of 6.6 seconds, and a fuel consumption figure of 9.2L/100km.
The HST model gets the P400 treatment, where power is cranked up to 294kW and 550Nm. The 0-100km/h time is chopped to 5,9 seconds, and top speed is 225km/h. Miraculously, the P400 engine has the same fuel economy as the P360, but with a slightly bigger CO2 count.
The HST also gets bespoke badging and carbon fibre trim for the bonnet, front grille, side vents and tailgate; the standard red brake callipers can be swapped for an anodised grey option.
