Compact SUV adds another contender to the sales fight

Nissan’s newest family member is the Magnite compact SUV. The company is promising that the Magnite will deliver more than a few best- and first in class features and experiences - particularly for the interior and driving tech.

Its stocky styling and chiselled details give the newcomer a strong presence, with typical SUV details including squared-off wheel arches with plastic protection, as well as front and rear scuff plates, and functional roof rails. The headlights, front fog lamps and daytime running lights are LED.

The interior has a focus on comfort and tech. Sporty front seats are matched to best-in-class rear knee room, where you’ll also find a first-in-class mobile phone holder; another first in its class is the all-digital instrumentation. Driver tech includes wireless charger, air purifier, ambient mood lighting and a JBL sound system linked to wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, controlled via an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen. Nissan Connect adds features like smartwatch connectivity.

The Magnite’s safety package includes ABS, EBD, brake assist, traction control and dual airbags, amongst others.

A 1.0 turbo motor provides the power, and will be available with either a 5-speed manual or CVT gearbox.

The Magnite will arrive in South Africa in early 2021, with pricing and final spec to be confirmed.
